Gin lovers, listen up!

From innovative distilleries to gin-making schools, the world of Irish gin is delicious, diverse and full of character.

With a Gin renaissance well underway, creating a vibrant gin culture, we have put together our top 5 must do gin experiences in Ireland.

Belfast Artisan Gin school, Antrim

Experience a good old Northern Irish welcome at this Artisan Gin school, based out of a traditional Irish, family run bar on the outskirts of Belfast.

To begin with, you will learn about the process of distilling Gin and everything you need to know to create your own bespoke recipe.

Whether you prefer fruity, spicy, floral, herbal, earthy, bitter or a mix, you choose your own combination for your unique recipe. There will be something for everyone, with the option to choose from over 80 botanicals! There will be a teacher present to guide you every step of the way.

The mini copper stills are then set and it’s time to enjoy a Gin Cocktail while you wait for your Gin to start to distil. Once your Gin is distilling you can taste your spirit as your unique flavours develop.
Enjoy another Gin or perhaps a Gin Liqueur as you have fun bottling, naming, labelling and sealing your Gin.

A final Gin Cocktail is served to celebrate your new Gin and you are now a Belfast Artisan Distillery Graduate ready to leave with your signature bottle of Gin. Belfast Artisan Gin School will keep a copy of your unique recipe so that they can recreate it for you to enjoy again or perhaps share as a gift.
Perfect for individuals, couples or groups for a celebration, a corporate event or a night out with a difference.

Woodlab Distillery, Tyrone

Discover how science meets nature, at the unique Woodlab distillery in Moy village, County Tyrone.

The brainchild of Dr Ulrich Dyer – a scientist who, after spending 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry, turned his skills to producing gin and rum and created the award winning Symphonia Spirits.

A gin experience like no other, you’ll get to learn about their unique production techniques using cold distillation and microwave extraction technology. You’ll hear how these techniques help ensure the rich yet delicate flavours of the local botanicals they use in gin production are extracted efficiently and preserved in their spirits. Not only that, but you’ll also get the chance to choose your own botanicals so you can create your own customised bottle of gin.

So, get your friends together and discover the wonderful flavours in this unique and state of the art distillery.

Skellig six 18 distillery, Kerry

The story behind this Wild Atlantic distillery means it is a must on our top 5 list.

Their Distillery & Visitor Experience is located right on the Coastline, in Cahersiveen where the mountains meet the sea. The same wild landscape that motivated sixth-century monks to build their monastery 11km out in the Atlantic Ocean. From a small landing cove on granite rock, they crafted six hundred and eighteen steps to reach their monastery on the top of Skellig Michael.

Their unique position on the Atlantic Coast means there are many beautiful scenic routes that take travellers directly past their doors from the Wild Atlantic Way, Skellig Coast and the Ring of Kerry.

Their Distillery & Visitor Experience showcases the Irish whiskey and gin tradition and tells some of the stories from this landscape which is rich in history and character.
Made with botanicals foraged from the nearby coastline, their craft gin delivers a real taste of the Atlantic and is a personal favourite of ours.
