Join us for a very memorable full day experience, hiking the untapped beauty of the Mourne Mountains and soaking in a local hot seaweed bath.

Meeting at Trassey Road, we take a short walk up the hill and through Clonachullion Forest from where you soon see Slieve Meelmore and the tors of Slieve Bearnagh behind it.

We’ll continue by following the Trassey Track up along the Trassey River, delving into the hidden Mournes.

Upon reaching the Hare’s Gap (the saddle between Slieve Bearnagh & Slievenaglogh), we’ll take a well-earned rest and photo-stop. This is arguably the most dramatic mountain pass in the Mournes!

Fun Fact: Hare’s Gap marked the exit point for smuggled goods which had crossed the hills from the coast, along the Brandy Pad. The contraband (which included soap, leather, spices and coffee) was carried through the mountains on the backs of small ponies, which descended via the Hare’s Gap to the valley of the Trassey River.

Once we’ve caught our breath, we will follow the famous Mourne Wall up to Slievenaglogh for the most spectacular views of the day, looking down the valley towards Ben Crom Reservoir in the heart of the mountains.

We promise stunning panoramic views and a cuppa at the top!

When we arrive back to earth, we will stop off for a well-earned pint and spot of lunch in a local restaurant in Newcastle, before heading to the Mourne Seaweed Baths to relax your muscles.

Seaweed Baths are well-known for offering some fantastic health and beauty benefits, but the fun and enjoyment they offer are a not-so-well known fact.

When and where?

Meet at 9am at Trassey Road Car Park, outside Bryansford, County Down. You will finish at about 4pm before heading off to enjoy your evening.
