Description
It’s got natural beauty. It’s got tons of history. And it’s got super-friendly locals who know how to have a good time. No wonder Belfast is one of the hottest destinations in Europe to visit.
On this experience, you will discover the Belfast story, from birth through its turbulent history of conflict and terror to peace and prosperity!
The only tour of Belfast conducted by ex-combatants who were personally involved in the troubles, you will discover a side of Belfast you won’t find in the Tourist books. We invite you to travel the streets of the city in one of the famous Belfast taxis. We visit both sides of the Peace Line with the men and women who have served time in the prisons of Northern Ireland for standing up for their beliefs. Ex-combatants who are either ex-prisoners or ex-soldiers from both sides will share their own personal stories and the effects on their communities and explain the murals that tell the local history and culture of the area.
Our expert guides link all the stages of the city’s development in a way that helps you grasp its complex and challenging history. Discover points of interest along the way and find out how religion, rebellion, politics, and conflict shaped the cityscape.
For the second part of our day, we will stop off for lunch in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, a maze of cobblestoned streets and warehouses that was once a historic trading quarter but is now home to trendy bars, beer gardens, clubs and restaurants.
After we are fed and watered, we will then see and hear why Belfast was awarded the prestigious UNESCO City of Music title in November 2021.
With two professional musicians as our guides, you will embark on the Belfast Traditional Music Trail. Here you will be treated to a performance of Irish tunes, songs and stories, as we walk through cobbled alleyways, past famous landmarks and on to private bars in some of the city’s oldest buildings.
There are 2 stops along the trail where you can enjoy a local beer, cider, whiskey or Guinness while learning about the instruments, language, customs and history that make up Ireland’s vibrant musical tradition.
Belfast is more than just a city, it is an experience of a lifetime.
